Background

The Radiological services is an essential supporting department in the treatment of patient. The main function of the department is to assist doctors in getting a faster and precise diagnosis. The development of interventional radiology had expanded its scope to therapeutic treatment.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department is located at the Ground Floor of the new Tower Block, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu. It comprised of 8 imaging examination rooms for the following imaging modalities: plain radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and computed tomography.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department is catering not only radiological services for the patients in this hospital, but also providing its services for nearby government hospitals and clinics, and private clinics in Kota Kinabalu district.

 

The main functions of the Diagnostic Imaging Department are:-
1. To produce quality imaging products
2. To provide professional report and opinion regarding the imaging
products
3. To carry out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under imaging
procedures

The main objective of the Diagnostic Imaging Department is to produce radiographs of high diagnostic values and reports that are precise in order to improve the management and treatment of patients as a whole.

Public Holidays

Routine radiological examinations are not carried out but emergency radiological services are carried out in Room 19 in the Accident & Emergency Department. Only one radiographer is on duty to carry out emergency radiological services outside office hours.
